York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution were forced to settle for a split, losing the final game of a four-game series to the Somerset Patriots, 5-4 on Thursday evening at Sovereign Bank Stadium. York was gunning for its second three-game winning streak of the week, and finishes its season-long 10-game homestand at 5-5. The Revs will head to Lancaster on Friday evening for the first "War of the Roses" series of the 2013 season.

York built an early 3-0 lead as Andy Marte clubbed a two-run homer to left-center in the bottom of the first, and smacked an RBI single to left field in the third. It was his second straight three-RBI game, as his league-leading RBI total now stands at 24 for the season.

Revs starter Matt Fox took a shutout into the sixth inning, but that is when Somerset scored all five of its runs, matching the biggest inning allowed by York this season. Fox was lifted after a walk and a single to start the inning, as his pitch count reached 94 for the night. Mike Wilson greeted reliever Michael Wuertz (0-1) with an RBI double off the Arch Nemesis to break up the shutout, and Luis Montanez (3-for-5) then singled up the middle, plating two runs to tie the score at 3-3. After a sacrifice bunt from James Skelton, Dan Hennigan blooped a double to right putting runners at second and third with one out. Aharon Eggleston beat out an infield single to give the Patriots a 4-3 lead, and Johnny Tucker followed with an RBI single to left, making it a 5-3 game.

York got one back in the eighth as Wilson Batista launched a solo homer to right, his first of the year, but that was as close as the Revs would get.

Somerset starter Josh Lowey (2-1) lasted six innings to earn the win, leaving the bases loaded to end the sixth. Jon Hunton tossed a scoreless ninth, earning his league-leading eighth save.

Notes: The Revs fell to 1-7 in one-run games with the loss. They have now lost 10 times by a combined 14 runs. It is just the third time this season that the Revs have lost a game in which they held a lead, and the first time since April 26 at Bridgeport. York's Corey Thurman (1-3, 2.96) will oppose Lancaster's Will Savage (2-1, 4.11) in Friday's opener at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:40 p.m.
