New York Boulders News Release

A big first inning earned the Boulders the win in game two of Saturday's doubleheader against the New Jersey Jackals 7-0 after Rockland dropped game one 4-1.

Mike Montville hit an RBI single in the sixth inning to bring in Cody Regis for the Boulders' lone run in game one.

One hour and 13 minutes after the final out of the first game, Rockland quickly set the tone in game two with a five-run top of the first as the Boulders betted through the lineup.

JC Rodriguez led off with a single, and then Conor Bierfeldt grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed him to reach base. Conrad Gregor hit a single- putting men on first and second- and then Marcus Nidiffer hit an RBI single to score Bierfeldt. Cody Regis flew out to center field for out number two, but then Jackals center fielder David Harris made an error throwing to first that allowed Gregor to score and Nidiffer to move to third. Kevin Krause then hit an RBI single that brought Nidiffer home from 90 feet away, and Matt Dacey followed that up with a two-run home run over the right field wall. Mike Montville then walked before Jason Agresti grounded out to the pitcher for out number three.

Krause walked with bases loaded in the second inning to bring in the Boulder's sixth run of the game, and Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to give Rockland a 7-0 lead.

Boulders starter David Palladino threw a complete game shutout in game two, giving up eight hits and three walks while striking out six.

The Boulders complete the four-game home-and-away series tomorrow at the Jackals. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
