JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Suns recovered from a three-run deficit to beat the Carolina Mudcats, 6-5, Sunday in front of 10,346 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Mike Collins' two-run single in the seventh inning off reliever Sean Fesh scored the go-ahead runs for the Suns (24-24). Fesh allowed a game-tying home run to Tarrik Brock on Friday, the only run credited to him this season in 27 innings. Jose Cueto (1-2) was credited with allowing the runs and earned the loss.

The Suns have won five of their last six games and pulled to within 5½ games of the Mudcats.

While Suns starter Heath Totten allowed four runs in four innings, the bullpen allowed one unearned run in five innings. Steve Langone delivered two scoreless innings, extending his consecutive shutout streak to 20. Agustin Montero (2-1) earned the victory, pitching two innings.

Greg Bauer, in a closing role, allowed a single to Chris Aguila with one out in the ninth. After an error on a hard-hit ball deep in the hole to Victor Diaz, the Southern League's leading hitter, Miguel Cabrera, singled to center to bring the tying run to second and the go-ahead run to first. Suns first baseman Derek Michaelis made a diving tag to narrowly beat Chris Ashby to the bag, which preserved the victory. Bauer earned his first save of the season.

The Mudcats (29-18) had led 4-1 after Matt Padgett and Josh Wilson each had RBI singles off Totten in the third inning. In the bottom of the inning, Jason Repko led off with a home run to left field, his seventh of the season.

Tony Socarras' sacrifice fly in the sixth brought the Suns to within a run. Diaz repeated the feat in the seventh, scoring Repko for the game-tying run.

Collins led the Suns with three hits – all singles – in his first start since Wednesday.

Right-hander Edwin Jackson – at age 19, the youngest player in the Southern League – is scheduled to face Carolina lefty Ryan Snare (3-0, 3.35 ERA) at 3:05 p.m. Monday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Jackson is 2-2 with a 2.28 ERA, the fourth-lowest in the league.
