MUSKEGON, MI.--- Having compiled a brilliant overall season record of 55(39-13-3) for 81-points and.736 winning percentage, the first place Muskegon Lumberjacks are reaping more residual benefits from their league-wide prominent presence and dominance.

On this date, the Lumberjacks, in collaboration with the International Hockey League, have announced that center BRIAN BICEK has been acclaimed the MEIJER / IHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK for the week of February 22nd through February 28th.

BICEK, 24, is in his second full season as a member of the hockey professional fraternity and his initial campaign cloaked in the colors of Muskegon pro hockey. The Downers Grove, IL product has enjoyed an extraordinary past two months of point producing prowess and polished proficiency.

The former standout at Western Michigan U. was especially electrifying the past week as his Lumberjacks squadron engineered 3-victories in 4-starts to increase its lead to 11-points over second place Port Huron and 12-points over third place, two-time defending league titlist Fort Wayne.

The diminutive, dynamic center collected 8-points in 4-games on 4-goals, 4-assists with a +1 rating, 14-SOG, 1-GWG, 2-PPG and 1-FG. His major claim to fame the past week was his third period precision in picking apart the visiting Flint Generals in his team's 7-3 Wednesday Waterloo of its major rivals. Erupting volcanically for a season-high 6-goals, the `Jacks triggered 4 of those in a blitz of 3:11 with Bicek instrumental on all 4-strikes. Literally and figuratively having lightning coming out of his skate blades, he rang home a natural 3-goal "hat trick" in a rapid fire fashion, 2:37, including 2-PPG and the ultimate GWG. Named the #1 Star in that contest, Bicek wasn't done yet. In his club's 6-4 Sunday verdict over Dayton, he essayed 3-more points including the game's FG as he was named the #2 Star this time.

In his last 20-games, the 5-9, 175lb sparkplug has collected 27-points on 10-goals, 17-assists. For the month of February, he was the Lumberjacks second top point-meister with 16-points in 12-games on 5-goals, 11-assists, soaring into the top 15 in league-wide scoring; 55(17-25-42). He is one of only three `Jacks players to have seen action in all of his team's 55-games thus far this season.

His 5-GWG rank as second most for the Lumberjacks and ties him for third most in the entire IHL. He is currently Muskegon's 4th leading scorer for the 2009-10 campaign. The "jacks hit the road this week for a trio of contests.
