Biasca & Moravec Invited to World Junior Camps
December 6, 2022 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Halifax Mooseheads News Release
There will be plenty of Mooseheads flavour around the World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax and Moncton this holiday season. Captain Attilio Biasca and defenceman David Moravec both received invitations to their respective National Junior Selection Camps this week with Biasca set to join Switzerland while Moravec will link up with his home country of Czechia.
The 19-year-old players are sheer locks to be on the finals rosters as Biasca will be playing for the Swiss for a third time after serving as an Alternate Captain during the 2022 World Juniors and winning the honour of being one of their top three players at the tournament. Moravec was also named to the 2022 squad for the Czechs and played two games during the shortened event last Christmas but was unable to join his team in August for the rescheduled tournament due to injury. Biasca scored four goals in five games with Switzerland, including two versus Canada in a quarter-final loss.
Teammate Jordan Dumais was named to Canada's Selection Camp roster yesterday and will have a shot at playing at the World Juniors in his home rink. Should he make it, Dumais and Moravec would square off on Boxing Day in the first game when Canada faces Czechia at 7pm. Switzerland will be based in Moncton in Group B and will play their first game against Finland at Noon on Boxing Day.
Selection Camps begin this Friday while the pre-tournament schedule opens on Monday, December 19th.
