FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 4, 2014) - Adam Brett Walker's grand slam in the eighth inning sealed a 6-1 win for the Fort Myers Miracle over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Friday afternoon at Hammond Stadium.

With the Miracle leading 2-1, Walker provided insurance with his 18th home run of the season. Stone Crabs reliever Casey Weathers walked the first three hitters. Then, on an 0-2 pitch, Walker hit a rocket over the center field fence to plate four runs and give the Miracle a 6-1 cushion.

The grand slam for Walker was his third of the season, a feat that had never been accomplished by a Miracle player. The drive also marked the seventh grand slam as a team for Fort Myers, tying the most in a single season. Walker has now homered in three consecutive games.

Charlotte starter Blake Snell was rolled through the Miracle lineup in the first four innings. With a 1-0 lead, Snell (1-5) struck out eight through the first four innings with no hits allowed. After retiring nine in a row by getting Niko Goodrum to pop out to second to start the fifth, Dalton Hicks doubled into right center field for Fort Myers' first hit.

After Stuart Turner flew out to right field, a wild pitch moved Hicks to third and Tyler Grimes earned a walk. Jorge Polanco then smacked a triple into the gap in left center to score two runs and give the Miracle a 2-1 lead.

Snell was done after five innings and gave up two runs on two hits with a walk and nine punch outs.

For the Miracle, Jose Berrios earned his team-best ninth win with six solid innings. Berrios (9-3) scattered six hits and allowed just one unearned run on a first inning RBI single from Maxx Tissenbaum. Berrios walked one and struck out four.

Steven Gruver entered the game in the seventh and pitched the final three innings. Gruver tallied his first save of the season and gave up just one hit with a walk and two strikeouts.

The Miracle (50-33, 9-5) host the Stone Crabs (34-49, 3-13) at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. for Red, White and Boom. After the final out is recorded, the Miracle will unleash a patriotic display of pyrotechnics in the best fireworks show in all of Southwest Florida.
