TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Yankees (9-4) won a fifth straight game and secured a series victory after defeating the Lakeland Flying Tigers (3-10) on Thursday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Luis Severino pitched a second consecutive quality start, dealing six shutout frames. The right-hander yielded two hits and two walks, striking out six in a no-decision.

The Yankees were held hitless against RHP Edgar De La Rosa before the Flying Tigers' starter was lifted with one out in the fourth after a visit by a trainer.

Tampa broke a scoreless tie against reliever Logan Ehlers in the sixth. Greg Bird began a two-out rally with a single to center and Dante Bichette Jr. drew a walk. Aaron Judge then flew a ball just over the wall in right field for a three-run home run in to the Walgreens Deck.

The lead proved to be short-lived as Lakeland rallied in the eighth against RHP Cesar Vargas. Jared Reaves drew a leadoff walk and Tyler Hanover reached on a fielder's choice. Hanover grounded a ball to shortstop and a wild throw by Cito Culver placed the runners on second and third. Chad Wright delivered an RBI single to center, cutting the lead to one. Wright later scored as Conner Harrell tied the game with an infield single.

The T-Yanks managed to respond quickly, taking back the lead in the home half. Judge worked a walk against RHP Nate Fury (0-1). Lakeland brought in southpaw Ryan Longstreth to face Matt Snyder and the designated hitter greeted him with an RBI double off the wall in dead center field, giving Tampa a 4-3 lead.

RHP Alex Smith (4-3) retired the final out in the eight and worked around a two-out single in the ninth, earning the win.

Judge went 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and three RBI. Snyder went 2-for-4, including the game-winning RBI double.

The series concludes on Friday as the Yankees spend Independence Day in Lakeland for a 5:00 p.m. start at Joker Marchant Stadium. LHP Miguel Sulbaran will get the start for Tampa. LHP Josh Turley is scheduled to start for Lakeland.
