Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that import forward, Roman Berdnikov has joined the team for the remainder of the season. Berdnikov, a native of Omsk, Russia was previously playing for the Omsk Hawks of the MHL, the junior team of the famed Avangard Omsk hockey club of the KHL. Through the first 34 games this season, Berdnikov averaged a point per game while also spending a brief stint practicing with Avangard Omsk.

"We are very pleased that this all came to fruition.", Attack General Manager Dale DeGray stated. "His family felt that it was best for Roman and his development to be in Owen Sound playing hockey in the best developmental league in the world."

The 5'11, 185lb winger played his rookie year for the Attack in 2009/2010 but was slowed down by injuries. Despite missing almost half the season, the "Birdman" still managed to put up 9 goals and 24 points as a 17 year old. Berdnikov arrived in Owen Sound late Wednesday night, reporting in tremendous shape and barring any holdups with his paperwork, will be in the lineup on Tuesday the 28th of December when the Attack visit the Barrie Colts.
