Reno Silver Sox News Release

DH Juan Senreiso and LF Kane Simmons each hit their third home runs of the season Wednesday, but the Silver Sox would go on to lose 6-4 in Chico on a night that featured a bench clearing brawl.

Chico scored first on a Daniel Nava sacrifice fly in the first inning making it 1-0 Outlaws. But the Silver Sox took the lead in the top of the fifth inning when Senreiso came up with a runner on and launched his third home run in two days giving Reno a a2-1 lead.

The brawl took place in the bottom of the fifth inning when Silver Sox starting pitcher Dusty Bergman hit Outlaw catcher Ricky Bambino with a pitch. Bambino then charged the mound and both benches cleared. After a long delay, Bambino, Bergman, and Sox Manager Les Lancaster were ejected from the game. The game continued unimpeded from that point on.

2B Mike Done singled to start the sixth inning and then Simmons hit the team?s second homer of the evening. Unfortunately for the Sox, that was the final time they would score on the night.

With the game tied at 4 in the seventh inning, LF Steve Boggs doubled in CF Jason Matteucci to give Chico a 5-4 lead. The Outlaws would add one more in the eight and RHP Todd Gelatka came in to earn his eight save of the season.

Reno will send RHP Matt Parris to the mound for game two of this three game series in Chico on Thursday night, catch the action on ESPN Radio 630 or right here at silversoxbaseball.com.

The Sox return home this Saturday to take on the St. George Roadrunners at Peccole Park.
