
Benacka Named To Texas League All-Star Game

O'FALLON, MO - Former Rascal reliever, Mike Benacka, has been named to the 2009 Texas League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 1st at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.
Benacka is currently 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA for the Midland Rockhounds, the Oakland Athletics AA affiliate, and replaces teammate Sam Demel on the roster. The Chicago, Illinois native has three saves in 41 innings, allowing 32 hits with 47 strikeouts to 21 walks.
The Lindenwood product appeared in 22 games, allowing only ten hits and one earned run over 26 innings of work in 2008 with the Rascals. He was also 3-0 with a 0.35 earned-run average and fanned an amazing 51 hitters in the 26 frames. Benacka racked up 13 saves in the process and was named to the Frontier League All-Star Game.
Benacka spent all of 2007 with the Rascals, racking up 20 saves and 60 strikeouts in just over 41 innings pitched. He was 2-5 with a 5.01 earned-run average and his 20 saves were a Rascals' single season record.
