Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, OH - Cincinnati Reds right-handed pitcher Ben Weber will make separate appearances for the Dayton Dragons, on a rehabilitation assignment, when the Dragons host the South Bend Silver Hawks for a four-game series beginning Thursday night at Fifth Third Field.

Weber, 35, in his first season as a part of the Reds bullpen staff, was placed on the disabled list on May 9th with a bulging disc in his neck. He will make two appearances during the four-game series, taking the mound on Thursday night's series opener with South Bend and on Saturday. In 10 appearances with Cincinnati this season, Weber has compiled a 0-0 record and an 8.03 ERA in 12.1 innings.

The four-year Major League veteran, who spent the previous three seasons with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, where he helped guide the team to a World Series Championship in 2002, made his last Major League appearance on May 8. Against the Los Angeles Dodgers that night, he threw an inning with two earned runs on two hits allowed, along with three walks.

The Dragons will take on the South Bend Thursday night at 7pm, with the game being carried live on radio at 1410-AM ESPN Radio, and on the internet at www.daytondragons.com. Saturday's game, a 7pm start, can be heard on ESPN Radio and at www.daytondragons.com, and can also be viewed via television on Time Warner Cable, Channel 25.
