Devil Rays Rundown

July 20, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release

The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays return home after winning three of four in Beloit, Wis. and six of nine overall for a second half record of 14-12 which is good enough for second place in the Eastern Division. The team is one game back of the front-running West Michigan Whitecaps. This weekend series could set the tone for the rest of this half and into the playoffs.

Promotionally, The Devil Rays and Charitable Union have partnered up to offer fans a unique opportunity: anyone who brings a new or slightly used coat to C.O. Brown Stadium on Thirsty Thursday, July 21, will be able to buy one ticket on this night and receive an additional one for free. For season ticket holders and fans who already have tickets, a buy-one, get-one voucher will be given to those fans. There will be $1 pop and beer available until the seventh inning on Thursday. Devil Rays fans will receive a double-dose of fireworks on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23. Some lucky fan will drive off in a new (used) car on Saturday night. There will also be pairs of Chicago Cubs Tickets given away throughout the evening. The homestand wraps up on Sunday with Matchbox Day and "Sharkey" from the Discovery Channel. Matchbox cars will be given away randomly to some lucky fans. "Sharkey" will be available for autographs and entertain the fans during the game. This Sunday game will also be televised on Comcast Local Channel 96.
