
Belters Win Five Straight, First Friday Special June 2-4

SAUGET - Nolan Meadows drove in three runs Wednesday to spark the Normal CornBelters to their fifth straight win with a 5-3 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies in Frontier League play at GCS Ballpark.
Meadows, leadoff hitter Yeixon Ruiz and first baseman Aaron Dudley each had two of Normal's eight singles. Meadows singled home Ruiz in the first, added a sacrifice fly in a three-run second and delivered another RBI single in the eighth.
Starting pitcher Scott Sebald (2-0) allowed one run in five innings before giving way to a quartet of Belters relievers. Shawn Blackwell struck out two in a perfect ninth for his third save as the Belters improved to 10-7.
Grizzlies starter William Anderson (0-3) lasted just 2? innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and four walks.
Jacoby Middleton reached on an error to start the big second for Normal. He stole second and third as Craig Lepre and Ty Morris drew walks, then scored on a Ruiz hit ahead of sacrifice flies by Santiago Chirino and Meadows.
Gateway (3-14) pushed a run across in the third on a Morris error in left field. In the sixth, Josh Bunselmeyer doubled home a run and Ryan O'Malley followed with an RBI single to cut the Normal lead to 4-3.

The CornBelters look for their sixth consecutive win and the sweep of the Gateway Grizzlies tonight in Sauget, IL.
The boys will be back in town tomorrow night for a three game series versus the Southern Illinois Miners. It's "Oops My Hot Dog is Green" Night on Friday, presented by CEFCU. Fans can win cash (MONEY) with every purchase of a hot dog, over $1,000 will be given away, come hungry and you may leave with cash.
Saturday is Super hero night. Come out the meet some of you favorite super hero characters, they will be on the concourse for pictures and signing autographs, the minions may make an appearance as well.

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4, the CornBelters will be running a first weekend of June special that can only be purchased by phone at 309-454-BALL (2255) or at the Mid-Illini Credit Union Box Office at The Corn Crib located at 1000 W Raab Road in Normal.
For only $12 fans will receive a Reserved Box Seat, one Original Gondola, one bag of BeerNuts, and one beverage of their choice (soda, water, or draft beer).
Offer valid only for the day of the game purchased. Limited to games on June 2-4, 2017.
