Bellingham Slam News Release
Bellingham, WA. The ABA Bellingham Slam used a 32-point fourth quarter to defeat the Beijing Aoshen Olympian 122-105 at Whatcom Pavilion. 16 points in the quarter by Mike Parker help put away the Olympians. "No question this was the best game of the season for us," commented Slam head coach Rob Ridnour. "Our guys did a great job containing their guards. On the offensive end, we got balanced scoring from everyone and Woodberry moved the ball especially well."
Woodberry was three rebounds shy of recording a triple-double finishing with 13 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds. Parker recorded a game-high 27 points while Caleb Gervin added 25. In all, five players scored in double figures for the Slam. Center Brian Dennis dominated on both ends of the post, scoring 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting and collecting a game high 14 rebounds.
"Parker and Dennis really had breakthrough games for us tonight," added Ridnour. "And Craig Roosendall once again hit some big shots for us there in the third quarter."
The Slam raced out to a 20 point first quarter lead, 40-20, paced by Gervin's 15 points and perfect 7 for 7 shooting in the quarter. The Olympian clawed back slightly in the second quarter before settling for a 60-46 Slam halftime lead. The Olympian resumed their comeback in the third quarter, trimming the Slam lead to five with three minutes left. But Craig Roosendaal extended the Slam lead with a trio of three-point shots in the final minutes and the Slam led after three quarters, 90-80.
