Salt Lake Bees News Release

Salt Lake pitchers issued a season-high 10 walks and allowed 13 runs in a game for the third time this season as the Bees were on the wrong end of a 13-6 win by the Tacoma Rainiers. The Bees are now 30-26 while the Rainiers picked up their 20th win of the season, improving to 20-35.

Jose Rojas went 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double, his first multi-home run game since June 26, 2021. Matt Thaiss went 2-for-4 with a home run and Magneuris Sierra also added a long ball. Keith Rogalla turned in a good outing out of the bullpen, pitching two innings and giving up just one hit while striking out five batters.

Tacoma scored early and often, hitting a grand slam in the second inning to go up 5-0. Halfway through the sixth, they held an 8-1 lead.

Thaiss, Rojas, and Sierra all hit home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning but were only able to cut the lead to four with nobody on base.

Tacoma blew things wide open in the seventh with four more runs to go up 12-4. Rojas hit his second home run in the eighth inning, but the damage had been done as the Bees fell 13-6.

The two teams will have a short turnaround tomorrow as first pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. for the series finale.
