
Bees Take Game Two in Clinton

(Clinton-IA) The Burlington Bees fought back after seeing their lead evaporate, beating the Clinton LumberKings, 5-3, in game two of the series, on Friday night.
Kody Eaves led off the game with a single to right and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bo Way. With Zach Houchins at the plate, a wild pitch allowed Eaves to take third and score on a throwing error by the catcher Marcus Littlewood, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.
With two outs in the first inning Eric Aguilera singles up the middle and would later score on a Stephen McGee single, extending the Bees' lead to 2-0 in the first inning.
The Bees opened the sixth inning with back-to-back singles from Bo Way and Zach Houchins. Eric Aguilera grounded into a double play, sending Way to third. With Stephen McGee at the plate and two outs, Way crossed the plate on a wild pitch, extending the Bees' lead to 3-0.
Austin Wilson put the LumberKings on the board in the sixth with a double, scoring Jack Reinheimer, cutting the Bees' lead to 3-1.
After the LumberKings loaded the bases in the eighth, Joe DeCarlo tied the game at three with a two run single to center field.
Eric Aguilera led off the ninth with a walk and was sacrificed to second on a bunt by Stephen McGee. Aguilera moved to third on a wild pitch and then came home to score on a Ryan Dalton sacrifice fly, putting the Bees on top 4-3. Trevor Gretzky added an insurance run with a homerun to right field, making it a 5-3 game.
Alan Busentiz (4-4) stranded a runner at third, striking out Marcus Littlewood, earning the win, in the Bees 5-3 victory over the Clinton LumberKings. Paul Fry (3-3) was charged with the loss.
Bees' starting pitcher, Daniel Hurtado, worked six innings allowing just one run and struck out a career high 10, but did not factor into the decision.
The Burlington Bees (59-57) and the Clinton LumberKings (51-64) continue their series on Saturday night at 6: 30 PM. Alex Blackford makes the start for the Bees against Jose Flores for the LumberKings.
