Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees (2-2) will settle for a series split with the Sacramento River Cats (2-2) after falling 9-6 on Sunday night at Smith's Ballpark.

Sacramento scored four runs in the second inning to start the scoring and the Bees could never rally all the way back. With the score 5-2 in the sixth inning Taylor Lindsey hit his first career Triple-A home run on a blast to right field. In the bottom of the seventh the Bees had runners on first and third with no outs looking to get back into the game, but a strikeout and double play ended the inning without a score. Sacramento would add four more insurance runs in the top of the eighth off relievers Josh Wall and Buddy Boshers. Salt Lake threatened a comeback in the ninth scoring on a John Hester home run, a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch to make the score 9-6, but tying run C.J. Cron struck out swinging.

Bees starter Wade LeBlanc was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs in four innings. River Cats starter Matt Buschmann picked up the victory for the Sacramento after giving up three runs over five and two-thirds innings.

"These last couple of games we haven't been able to limit the big inning," Bees manager Keith Johnson said. "Offensively we are still doing some good things, but we still left some runs out there on the field."

The opening homestand continues for the Bees on Monday as the team welcomes the Fresno Grizzlies into town for a four-game series. Monday night is Smith's Family Night where a family can get four tickets and four hotdogs for $20 at their local Smith's.
