Bees Record Just Four Hits In Loss

Burlington, IA - The Burlington Bees lost their second game in a row to Cedar Rapids falling 3-2 Saturday night at Community Field. The Bees are now looking for a series split going into Sunday's series finale.

Cedar Rapids opened the scoring by putting up two runs in the top of the first inning. The game stayed 2-0 until the fifth when the Kernels put up one more run to take a 3-0 lead. The Bees got back within one run scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Sean McCauley led the inning off and was walked. McCauley then scored on an Antonio Jimenez stand-up triple. Jimenez then scored on a Juan Rivera RBI ground-out. Those were the only runs the Bees could put on the board.

Bryan Casey got the start for the Bees and the loss to move to 4-7. Casey only lasted 3.2 innings because he was taken out of the game early due to injury. He allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Blaine Hardy pitched 3.1 innings allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts. Riquy Pena and James Thompson each pitched one scoreless inning.

The Bees had four hits in the game and were outhit 8-4. No one had more than one hit for the Bees. The game was delayed 1:10 due to rain.

The Bees conclude the four-game series with Cedar Rapids Sunday afternoon at Community Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00. Mike Montgomery is the scheduled starter.
