
Bees Pitching Shuts Down Sacramento

Four Salt Lake pitchers combined to throw a four hitter, as the Bees downed the Sacramento River Cats 3-1 on Saturday night. Andrew Wantz worked the first three innings and allowed no runs on just one hit. James Hoyt allowed one run in two innings. Jose Quijada tossed two scoreless innings and was credited with the win and Austin Warren shut out the River Cats in the eighth and ninth for his first save of the season. The four hurlers totaled twelve strikeouts with only two walks.
Salt Lake took a 1-0 lead in the third on a home run by Jack Mayfield, his first as a Bee. They would make it 2-0 in the fourth, as Michael Stefanic singled, Anthony Bemboom walked with both runners advancing on a wild pitch and Stefanic scored on a ground out by Jake Gatewood. Matt Thaiss would close out the scoring with his tenth home run of the season leading off the seventh. Thaiss would lead the Bees with two hits and one RBI. Jo Adell was hitless in the game, which snapped his eight game hitting streak.
