
Bees Overpower Sundogs with Second Period Surge, 5-2

HIDALGO, TX - A four-goal second period for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees turned a tie hockey game into a 5-2 win over the Arizona Sundogs on Saturday night at State Farm Arena.
It was the final meeting of the season between the Sundogs (17-33-9) and the Killer Bees (28-26-7).
Craig Macdonald had tied the game at 1-1 for Arizona at 7:31 of the second period, but the Bees responded with four unanswered to take a 5-1 lead. Aaron Lee buried a shorthanded goal from the slot at 9:36. Reid Edmondson then followed at 13:05 on a crossing pass. Brandon Campos extended the lead with a late power play goal and Aaron Boogaard capped off the period's scoring with 1:34 left in the frame.
The Bees' Scott Balan scored the first period's only goal. Jesse Perrin added a third period goal for the Sundogs.
Scott Reid took the loss for Arizona, stopping 31 shots. Wylie Rogers earned the win for the Bees with 29 saves.
The Sundogs finished 1-for-6 on the power play while the Bees went 1-for-7.
Arizona heads to Laredo for a Sunday afternoon meeting with the Bucks to close out their season series. Game time is set for 2:05 PM PST and the action can be heard live on Cattle Country 94.3 FM.
