Burlington, IA (Jul 5, 2008) - The Burlington Bees opened a three-game series with the Clinton LumberKings Saturday night at Community Field and lost 13-1. Clinton scored all 13 runs before the Bees could score a single run with ten of those runs scoring as a result of homeruns.

Matt Mitchell got the start for the Bees. In 5.1 innings, he allowed four runs on nine hits. The LumberKings scored two runs in the second and two in third before Mitchell settled down and pitched a scoreless third and fourth inning.

With one out and one man on in the sixth inning, Joe Augustine came into the ballgame out of the bullpen for the Bees. Augustine got out of the sixth without having a run scored against him. Augustine struggled after that as he ended up allowing eight runs, six of which were earned, on seven hits in 1.2 innings of work. Augustine, who came into the game having allowed three homeruns all season, gave up four homeruns in the game. Chris Chavez finished things off for the Bees allowing one unearned run in two innings of work.

The Bees did score one run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jamar Walton led off with a double and moved to third on a ground-out. After Todd Balduf was walked to put runners on the corners, Walton scored on a Zach Evangelho RBI ground-out.

The LumberKings finished the game with 19 hits. The Bees had eight. Adrian Ortiz led the Bees going 3-3 and was the only player to have more than one hit.
