Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football (UIF) will look to finish what they started in Week 8 and defeat the Sioux Falls Storm this Friday. In Week 8, the Beef dominated the Storm for the first-half and lost their lead in the second half and fell by a score or 34-24.
The Omaha Beef enter the game with a 4-5 record after defeating the Peoria Rough Riders last week, 60-16. Omaha's offense is playing it's best football of the season as they have scored at least 40 points in two consecutive games for the first time this season. Newly signed running back Jamar Day rushed 10 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns in last week's victory and quarterback Fran Johnson got his first start of the year last week and passed for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Neither Day nor Johnson played in Omaha's last meeting with Sioux Falls in Week 8. Running back RJ Rollins continues to find the end zone as he added two more touchdowns last week and leads the league with 18 touchdowns on the season.
The Beef defense only allowed 16 points last week vs. Peoria. Clint Brown led the team in tackles last week by recording six. Defensive back Harold Clewis had an interception to continue his stellar play. Linebacker Chris Eads tallied four tackles and two sacks to bring his team-leading total to 62.5 tackles and three sacks.
Sioux Falls (9-0) is looking to clinch a playoff berth and tie a UIF record for most consecutive victories in a season with a win over the Beef. Sioux Falls quaterback Terrance Bryant is having an MVP-like season as he ranks third in the UIF in passing yards (1465) and third in touchdown passes (29). Wide reciever James Terry has been dominant with 13 receptions for 203 yards and six touchdowns over the last two games.
Beef Head Coach Robert Fuller says "If the third time is going to be a charm for us we are going to have to play four quarters of mistake free football. The Storm are one of the best teams the professional indoor game has seen and we are excited to get another shot at them."
The Beef return home on Friday, June 2 when the Sioux Falls Storm enters "The Slaughterhouse". Kickoff is scheduled for 7:35 PM. Tickets are available for all remaining Beef home games by calling 402-346-2333.
