The BEEF continued their winning ways Thursday evening as they defeated the Wichita Wild 31-24 at the Kansas Coliseum. The win, the third in-a-row for the BEEF, moved the team's record to 4-2 on the young UIF season. The BEEF sit in second place in the UIF's Western Conference, half a game behind the Billings Outlaws. In the game, Omaha picked off Wichita quarterback Matt Kelly six times, which tied a UIF record set by former league member Lexington Horsemen. Quarterback James McNear threw for three touchdown passes (two to Blake Fuchtman and one to Ken Horton) in the victory. A three-yard touchdown run by R.J. Rollins and two field goals by Ricky Lebeda completed the scoring for the BEEF. In their next action, Omaha hits the road again, facing off against the Bloomington Extreme next Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. LEBEDA NAMED UIF SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For his efforts in the BEEF's 41-15 win over the previous unbeaten RiverCity Rage, kicker Ricky Lebeda was named the UIF Special Teams Player of the Week. The former Omaha Northwest and Dana College standout went two-of-three on his field goals and five-of-five on extra points to contribute 11 points. Lebeda joins teammate and defensive back Diezeas Calbert as members of the BEEF to be named Players of the Week by the UIF. Calbert won Week 4 Defensive Player of the Week as a result of his play in the BEEF's 34-18 win over the Sioux Falls Storm when he had seven tackles, two interceptions and a pass break up.

NEXT HOME GAME = Saturday - April 26th = Kids Night
Just like the two major universities in the states of Nebraska and Colorado possess a major rivalry, the Omaha BEEF and the Colorado Ice have a budding rivalry. The game, which is being promoted as "Kids Night," will feature a 2008 BEEF trading card set to be given to the first 1,000 kids through the Civic Auditorium's turnstiles.
