Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef never trailed in Saturday's dominating 60-16 victory over the Peoria Rough Riders. Omaha improved its record to 4-5 on the season and moved them into a tie for the fourth best record in the league.
The Beef started quarterback Fran Johnson for the first time this season and Johnson took advantage of the opportunity as he passed for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson led the Beef offense to their second biggest offensive output of the season. Newly signed running back Jamar Day rushed 10 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Day also caught a touchdown pass. Running back RJ Rollins added to his league-leading total of touchdowns as he scored two on the ground to bring his season total to 18.
The Beef defense continued it's solid play as they allowed their lowest point total of the season. Defensive back Clint Brown led the team in tackles with six and Harold Clewis caught the only interception of the game. The Beef defensive line hassled Peoria quarterbacks Spencer Davis and Bobby Swanson all night as they recorded six sacks.
Beef Head Coach Robert Fuller says, "Our guys came into the game with a very business like approach and executed our game plan. It was a good win and it gives us some momentum coming into our game with the Storm."
The Beef return home on Friday, June 2 when the Sioux Falls Storm enters "The Slaughterhouse". Kickoff is scheduled for 7:35 PM. Tickets are available for all remaining Beef home games by calling 402-346-2333.
