Omaha Beef News Release

Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football Association is pleased to announce the signing of running back Jamar Day from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The 5'11 225 Day has been a dominant force on the field for the NCC Champion UNO Mavericks and was a possible draft or free agent selection in the recent draft.

Jamar came to UNO as a junior after two stand out seasons at Antelope Junior College and earned his first start five games into the season. Six games later Jamar finished with one of the best rushing seasons in school history with 1,541 yards and 17 TD's. Jamar was named the Most Valuable Offensive Back of the North Central Conference and was a Daktronic's All Region selection.

As a senior Jamar was hampered by a high ankle sprain that occurred early in the season but still managed to rush for 755 yards in 8 games while helping the Mavericks to their second consecutive NCC Championship. Jamar earned his second straight 1st Team All NCC selection at running back and was also selected to play in the Cactus Bowl, which serves as an All Star game for the best athletes in Division II.

"We are very excited to welcome Jamar into the Beef family," stated Head Coach Robert Fuller. "Jamar is an NFL caliber athlete with a great work ethic and we hope to help him achieve his ultimate goal of playing in the NFL. The thing I have been most impressed with regarding Jamar is the quality of person he is and how humble he is. He is a special person and we are proud to have him become a member of the Omaha Beef."

The Beef return home this Saturday night May 20th, as they will battle the Bloomington Extreme, the UIF's newest team. It's "Military Night" and anyone with a valid Military ID gets 2 tickets for the price of 1 in Touchdown Alley. Individual game tickets still remain for all Beef home games and can be purchased by calling Jenny Cheney at the Omaha Beef Football office at 402-346-2333.
