Omaha Beef News Release

Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football (UIF) will try to make it 2-for-2 against Sioux City in the 2006 season as the Bandits (1-3) invade the Omaha Civic Auditorium on Saturday. Omaha downed Sioux City 38-35 in Week 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Beef (2-2) are looking to bounce back after they had Lexington against the ropes in the 3rd quarter by leading the game 17-10 and dominating the explosive Horsemen offense, but things changed as Omaha went on to fall by a 46-23 score. Running back RJ Rollins leads the league in touchdowns with 9 and is 2nd in the UIF in rushing yards with 177. The Beef offense is scoring the third most points per game in the UIF with 40.75.

Defensively Omaha is led by linebacker Chris Eads who is 2nd in the UIF in tackles with 28.5. Clint Brown is another major contributor on defense as he leads the UIF in interceptions with 5.

Sioux City snagged its first win of the season last week as they upset Fort Wayne 41-27. Sioux City's defense held Fort Wayne running back Rocky Harvey, who rushed for 171 yards in Week 3, to just 34 yards rushing in the Bandits Week 4 victory. Sioux City is giving up the 3rd least points in the UIF with 29.25 per game. They are lead defensively by Spetlar Tonga who is tied for 3rd in the UIF with 26.5 tackles.

In the first meeting with Sioux City, the Bandits took a 28-16 lead early in the 4th quarter before the Beef scored on 2 touchdowns by RJ Rollins. Sioux City came right back with a 32-yard touchdown reception by Cori Johnson to take the 35-31 lead with 5:42 to go in the game. The back-and-forth action continued, as it was RJ Rollins again from 4 yards out to give the Beef the 38-35 lead with 3:33 left. From there it was time for the Beef defense to take over. Sioux City marched down the field and landed inside the Beef 5 yard line with under a minute to play. The Beef defense made 2 big stops and with 33 seconds left, DeAndre Phillips fumbled the ball as he was stretching it over the goal line, Omaha recovered to seal the victory.

Beef Head Coach Robert Fuller says, "This is going to be one of those games that you do not want to miss. There should be plenty of big plays and big hits. This is a very intense division rivalry game that will probably be decided in the last minute of the game. "

Saturday is "College Night" at the Slaughterhouse where anyone showing a valid student ID will receive $5 off his or her ticket. Individual game tickets remain for all Beef home games and can be obtained by calling Jenny Cheney at the Omaha Beef Football office at 402-346-2333.
