Sioux Falls improved to 4-0 on the season with a 48-34 victory over the Rock River Raptors last Saturday. The Storm offense continues to surge and are currently scoring the 2nd most points per game in the UIF with 42.25 points per game. Wide reciever Ken Horton has led the way by posting 10 receptions for 144 yards and 4 TD's over the last 2 weeks. Quarterback Terrance Bryant is 5th in the UIF in passing yards with 535 and tied for 4th in touchdown passes with 11. Storm running back Mike Scott is one of only four players in the UIF to score a touchdown by rushing, receiving and kickoff return.
The defense has also been impressive by giving up the least amount of points per game in the UIF with 22.25. Tyrone Rhone has quietly been a major contributor on defense by recording 20 tackles and nabbing 1 interception that he returned 20 yards for a touchdown vs. Rock River. Justin Landis continues to lead the team in tackles with 25.5. Landis also has a touchdown this season after he returned a fumble 29 yards against Sioux City. The Storm, however, will be without free safety, Shannon Poppinga, for this weekend. Poppinga is nursing a shoulder injury from last weekend's game and it's not yet determinded when he'll be back in uniform.
Fort Wayne (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season in Sioux City last week. After rushing for a league record 171 yards in Week 3, running back Rocky Harvey was held to just 34 yards against Sioux City. Harvey is 2nd in the UIF in touchdowns scored with 8 and he has also passed for 2 touchdowns. Fort Wayne's defense is allowing the 4th least points in the UIF with 29.75. The defense is lead by Lewis Carter who has recorded 23 tackles this season.
The Storm returns to the Arena on Saturday, May 6 as the Ft. Wayne Freedom invade the "Storm Shelter". Season tickets are still available at a pro-rated price by calling the Storm Football Office at 332-4225.
