Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, NE- The Omaha Beef Indoor Football team is pleased to announce three more player signings for the 2012 season. Terry Griffin, Elizabeth City State University, and Calvin Fance, Angelo State University, will be joining the defensive line and Will Grindle, Huntingdon College, will be joining the Beef on offense as a wide receiver.
Terry Griffin, Elizabeth City State College 6'3'' 360 lbs. Terry led Elizabeth City State University in 2010 with 28 solo tackles and 42 total tackles for his team. Terry received all CIAA Second team honors during his senior year at ECSC. Terry is hoping this experience with the Beef will be beneficial in his pursuit of obtaining a contract with the NFL or CFL. Head Coach, Bruce Cowdrey said of the addition of Terry Griffin, "This will be an upgrade of our defensive line personnel to an exceptional level." When asked what his role on the team this year would be, Terry replied, "It is my job to hold down and be the big stopper in the middle to clog up the gaps."
Calvin Fance, Angelo State University 6'1'' 250 lbs. Calvin was signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) in 2010 after being named a NCAA Division II All- American. During his All-American senior season Calvin was the NCAA Division II sacks leader with 14.0 sacks and compiled 43 total tackles with a team high of six quarterback hurries. Head Coach, Bruce Cowdrey believes Terry Griffin and Calvin France are both "dominating, intense, relentless, pursuers of the football and possess a rare combination of size, speed, and equipment that allows them to put their ability levels on a higher scale."
Will Grindle, Huntingdon College 6'1'' 200 lbs. Will is no stranger to arena football with his experience as a wide receiver for the Cleveland Gladiators (AFL) before coming to the Omaha Beef. When asked what Will's role would be on the team this year he stated, " I want to bring the talent and the gifts God has given me in order to place our team in a winning position with talent and leadership, I believe we can win a championship." Coach Bruce Cowdrey only had positive remarks about Will, "We are very fortunate to have Will, he has an uncanny ability to run routes. He understands zone concepts and schemes. Will is an intelligent and mature football player who does the little things well."
