Reading Express News Release
The Reading Express Indoor Football Team is pleased to announce the addition of offensive linemen Cory Dowless to their roster for the 2012 season. Dowless signed on with the Express on Nov. 17.
Dowless is a 2011 East Carolina University graduate and was a member of their 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 football team where they made three bowl game appearances, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in 2008 and 2009 and the Military Bowl in 2010.
At East Carolina Dowless was standout in the guard position. At 6'5 309 pounds, Cory will bring an athletic physical presence to the offensive unit. He started in a total of 47 games in his college career and recorded over 100 "knockdown blocks" during his time as a Pirate.
Express Head Coach Mark Steinmeyer said, "Cory is an outstanding athlete with exceptional footwork. He brings it on every snap, and has a great deal of experience at the DI level."
As a true freshman in 2006, Dowless was a unanimous pick to the C-USA All-Freshman squad by both head coaches and media.
Dowless went to Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur, NC, where he was a distinguished Scholar-Athlete all four years and earned All-Mid-Piedmont Conference, all-region, and all-county honors. Dowless will prove to be a great addition to the Express offensive line.
The Reading Express are one of the most established franchises in indoor football. In six full seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 73-27 with five division championships, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading began play as a new member of the Indoor Football League and captured the league's Atlantic Division title.
