Omaha Beef News Release
Monday, February 13, 2006, Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football Association is pleased to announce the signing of linebacker Chris Eads and defensive back Buddy Williams. These two veteran standouts look to make an immediate impact for the Beef defensively.
The 6'2 240 Eads comes to the Beef after two seasons with the Sioux Falls Storm. Last season Eads was a big contributor for the Storm at both linebacker and defensive end. Eads finished third on the team in tackles with 77.5 in 15 games, which included 57 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions and one blocked kick. Eads was an All-MIAA conference linebacker for Missouri Western College.
"Chris brings a lot of big game experience to our defense," stated Head Coach Robert Fuller. "He has been a part of two title runs for the Storm and he knows what it takes to win. After last season we felt like that was one position we needed to get a lot more production out of and we think Chris can get it done for us."
Buddy Williams comes to the Omaha Beef after spending last season with the Sioux City Bandits. Williams was the leading tackler for the Bandits last season finishing with 58 total tackles, which included 37 solo tackles and 42 assisted tackles in only 11 games. Williams was credited with 10 pass break ups and two forced fumbles from his safety position. Williams played for Coach Tommy Bowden at Clemson University in 2002 and 2003.
"Buddy is big time football player and we are very excited to have him in our secondary," stated Coach Fuller. "We made a conscious effort to stay away from his side of the field last season but with his speed and tenacity he still made a ton of plays against us. We feel Buddy has great potential on and off the field and we want to help him reach both."
Omaha Beef will hold their last try-out this weekend at the Omaha Sports Complex located on 147th and Giles. Saturday's try-out will be from 6-8pm and Sunday's session will run from 10am to noon. Please join the Beef players and coaches at Boston's (8045 S 83rd Avenue in La Vista) Saturday night immediately following the first session.
