Bednarik Earns Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Bethlehem, PA: In release made today, the league office of the Professional Indoor Football League announced that Lehigh Valley Steelhawks Quarterback Adam Bednarik was selected as the Week Two Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the team's 48-47 victory over the Trenton Freedom.

Bednarik (6'2", West Virginia University) led the team to a season opening victory in come from behind fashion. Down 12 points with under four minutes left in play, Bednarik tossed two fourth down touchdown passes, none bigger than his 14 yard strike to WR Brandon Renford with 33 seconds left in regulation to give the Steelhawks a one point victory over the expansion Freedom. On the night, the Steelhawks signal caller tossed for 182 yards and six touchdown passes.

Additionally the league announced that Nashville Venom DB Corry Stewart and Georgia Fire Kicker Ryan Gates were named PIFL Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively for their efforts in Week Two.

Bednarik and the Steelhawks don't have much room for rest, as they head up to Hershey's Giant stadium this Friday at 7:30 p.m. to take on another new rival in the Harrisburg Stampede who are 1-1 on the young season. This Conference battle is the first of three matchups this season between the two teams.
