Hammers on the Road Again

Using a line from Willie Nelson, the Alabama Hammers are "on the road again" in week three of the 2014 season of Alabama Hammers football. This Saturday, 6:00 p.m. (CT), the Hammers will face the Richmond Raiders with both teams looking for the elusive first victory of the young season. Both squads go into the 2013 PIFL Championship Game rematch with 0-2 records.
"Richmond is trying to find a team identity much like we are and their squad is much like us being filled with new faces and very athletic," said Dean Cokinos head coach of the Hammers. "We're both trying to find that first win and it should be a great game."
Last week, the Hammers were nailed by the Georgia Fire 67-65 with the Hammers being denied a 2-point conversion at the end of regulation allowing the Fire to earn a victory on its home field. Hammers' wide receiver/running back Charles McClain had a league tying 17 receptions and scored three touchdowns to lead the Hammers on offense, but the Fire was able to move the ball on the Hammers' defense.
"That's our game. To play for the last possession and we did that. We just didn't take advantage of that possession and came up short," said Cokinos. "That's the way a good arena game should be played. If the game is played right, the outcome will come down to the last possession."
This Saturday, the Hammers and Raiders game will be broadcast on TV with the game being shown on My8, WAMY-TV, beginning at 6 p.m.
