
Beavers release Megrew; Ciofrone transferred to Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today released left-handed pitcher Mike Megrew and announced that outfielder Peter Ciofrone has been transferred to Portland from Class AA San Antonio.
Megrew, 25, was 0-0 with a 9.35 ERA (9er, 8.2ip) and eight strikeouts in five relief appearances with Portland this season.
Ciofrone, 24, batted .254 (17-for-67) with six doubles, one triple, eight walks, nine runs scored and 11 RBIs in 19 games with San Antonio to start the 2008 campaign. Ciofrone split the 2007 season between San Antonio and Portland, batting .248 (33-for-133) with six doubles, one triple, four home runs and 21 RBIs in 36 games played with the Beavers during his Triple-A debut season.
The Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
