Tucson Sidewinders News Release
Round Rock, TX - Nick Gorneault had two hits including a two run home run and Josh Miller tossed six and two-thirds innings of one run ball as the Round Rock Express beat the Sidewinders 4-1 on Thursday night at Dell Diamond.
Yusmeiro Petit made his 2008 Sidewinders debut after being optioned down by the Diamondbacks and went three and two-thirds before reaching his pitch limit. Petit (0-1) allowed four hits including Gorneault's two run homer. He struck out two and did not walk a batter.
Tucson had some early opportunities against Miller but hit into two key double plays that squashed rallies. With the bases loaded and one out in the fourth, Petit grounded into a 6-3 twin killing that ended the inning. In the fifth, Alex Romero's double play ball took the Sidewinders out of a two on no out situation.
The Sidewinders move on to Albuquerque to open a four game series with the Isotopes on Friday night. Left-hander Evan MacLane (0-2, 6.75) starts for Tucson against right-hander Bobby Keppel (3-1, 5.16) for Albuquerque. First pitch is at 6:05 Tucson time. The game will air LIVE on COOL 1450 beginning at 5:55.
