Salt Lake added to its lead in the fifth with two more runs off Condrey. After a sacrifice fly by Riggs, Jeff Guiel drove in the Stingers' final run with a single to right field.

The Beavers staged a ninth-inning rally, but were unable to erase the Stingers' advantage. With runners and second and third, Tagg Bozied hit a single to center field to make it 5-3.

Chone Figgins, Tom Gregorio, and Guiel each went 2-for-4 to lead the Stingers.
