
Bears Welcome Newly Naturalized Citizens

The Newark Bears and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service welcomed fifty newly naturalized citizens to Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Tuesday, August 17. A pre-game ceremony was held prior to the game and the new citizens stayed to cheer the Bears to a victory.
The ceremony included the administering of the Oath of Allegiance, the petitioners for citizenship reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag and recognition of the nations that the new citizens emigrated from will be read aloud. Bears General Manager Charlie Dowd spoke to the newest American citizens and passed along his congratulations in some brief remarks.
