
Bears Sign Three Players as Training Camp Approaches

HERSHEY â The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that the club has signed rugged right wing Rob Voltera, defenseman Dean Arsene, and defenseman Mark Jerant to American Hockey League contracts for the upcoming 2003-04 season.
Voltera led the BEARS in penalty minutes last season (180) in just 54 games played. He scored his first AHL goal on November 14 at Cleveland after recording his first AHL point six days earlier at Binghamton. Voltera made his AHL debut with the Springfield Falcons in 2001-02.
Arsene (ar-SEEN-e) stands 6'2", and weighs in at 200 lbs. He played 50 games in 2002-03 with the Hartford Wolfpack (AHL), scoring a goal and assisting on three others while accumulating 94 penalty minutes. He scored his first career AHL goal with Hartford last season on December 18th against the Utah Grizzlies.
Jerant (jerr-AHNT) is 6'5" and weighs 225 lbs. A native of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, Jerant was limited to just 12 games last season with Dayton (ECHL) due to injury. He accumulated 47 penalty minutes for Dayton during that time.
HERSHEY will open training camp for the club's 66th AHL season on Monday, September 29. Tickets for both home exhibition games on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 will be $7. As in previous years, all parking will be free for both the Saturday game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Sunday's game with Binghamton.
The BEARS open up the home portion of the 2003-04 season on Saturday, October 18th at GIANT Center. Season ticket information is available by calling 520-5796. Ticket information is also available for the NHL exhibition game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders on Thursday, October 2nd at GIANT Center.
