HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Phil Oreskovic to the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL). The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Oreskovic, a 25-year-old native of North York, Ontario, has one assist and nine penalty minutes in six games with HERSHEY.

Oreskovic spent all of the 2010-11 season with the BEARS but missed a large portion due to injury and only appeared in 14 regular-season games. He made one Calder Cup Playoff appearance.

The 6-4, 235-lb. blueliner spent his first four professional seasons with the Toronto Marlies (AHL), piling up 315 penalty minutes along with 31 points (four goals, 27 assists) between 2006-2010. Oreskovic earned his first NHL recall to the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2008-09 season and put up one goal, one assist and 21 penalty minutes in 10 games.

Oreskovic was originally selected by the Maple Leafs in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The BEARS will take to the road for their next five games. The trip begins tomorrow, February 17 with a 7:05 PM faceoff against the Providence Bruins. The club returns to GIANT Center to battle the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday, February 25 at 7:00 PM.
