February 15, 2011 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Waterloo Bucks News Release
Waterloo, IA -The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of utility-man Sebastian Grazziani to their 2011 roster. Grazziani (pronounced grass-e-ON-e) is a junior at the New York Institute of Technology and will join his fellow Bear teammate Tommy Cardona in Waterloo this summer.
In 2010, the right-handed batter hit .324 for NYIT with 32 runs and 61 hits. Grazziani had a total of six doubles, nine home runs, and 45 RBI on the season.
"I am very excited to be a part of the Waterloo Bucks organization," said Grazziani, originally from Whitestone, New York. "I cannot wait to experience a summer playing baseball in a different part of a country that I have yet to explore."
Born September 27, 1990, Grazziani played for the North Fork Ospreys in the Atlantic Collegiate League last summer. The 5'10", 180-pounder hit .322 with five home runs and a league-leading 31 RBI. Grazziani finished the year with a .529 slugging-percentage and 64 total bases, both of which were good enough for fifth best in the league.
"Coach Bob Hirschfield in New York sends us this smooth fielding athlete," said Bucks Coach Jared Krasselt. "Sebastian is going to bring contact, speed, and power to our lineup. Grazziani will also help out the team by moving runners."
Grazziani is a graduate of St. Francis Prep High School in Fresh Meadows, New York.
The Bucks will open the 2011 season on the road at the Battle Creek Bombers on June 1. Waterloo's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 at 6:35 pm versus the Eau Claire Express. Season tickets and single-game tickets are currently on sale. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
