Madison, WI - February 15, 2011. The Mallards are excited to announce the team has signed Cameron Booser and Tony Bryant, a pair of pitchers from Oregon State University for the 2011 season.

Details about each player can be found below.

Cameron Booser, Freshman, Throws: L, Bats: L, 6'3", 215 lbs (Oregon State)

A freshman left-handed pitcher from Milton, Washington, Booser was rated as the No. 4 high school player in the state of Washington by Baseball Northwest. As a senior he hit .475 with six doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 40 RBI. A year earlier as a junior, Booser hit .481 with seven doubles, three triples, six home runs, and 24 RBI. On the mound he was 5-1 with a 1.73 ERA in eight appearances.

Mallards Field Manager Greg Labbe thinks Booser's versatility will play an important role on the team this summer.

"Booser was one of the most talented kids coming out of the state of Washington last year," said Labbe.

"He adds a lot of value to our roster because of his versatility as a two-way guy, and the fact that he can play the outfield, first base, and even pitch. Also, reports about his arm strength have been impressive thus far."

Tony Bryant, Sophomore, Throws: R, Bats: R, 6'7", 210 lbs (Oregon State)

A sophomore right-handed pitcher from Kennewick, Washington, Bryant pitched in 14 games as a freshman and posted a 4.64 ERA over 19.1 innings. The lanky youngster (he's currently listed at 6'7") appeared in six games in Pac-10 play, and neither received a win nor a loss.

At Kennewick High School, Bryant earned Pitcher of the Year honors twice and was named to the All-State Team twice as well. His finest season came as a junior when he was 8-2 with a 1.86 ERA over 56.1 innings. He struck out 67 hitters over that span.

After his senior season, Bryant was drafted in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins but elected to attend Oregon State instead of beginning his professional career.

Labbe believes Bryant will be a vital piece in the team's bullpen if Madison is to make a run deep into the postseason this summer.

"Tony is a strong and big pitcher who threw well last season for the Beavers, and expectations are high for the talented sophomore," said Labbe.

"Both this spring and summer he'll be used primarily in relief, but don't be surprised if he makes an occasional spot start. Additions like Tony are what you need to have a championship-type roster."The Madison Mallards are members of the 16-team summer collegiate Northwoods League and will play a 70-game schedule in the new-and-improved "Duck Pond" beginning on Opening Day, June 7th against the Wisconsin Woodchucks at 7:05 p.m.
