Home Stand

The Blitz are currently undefeated at home (3-0) and they like to keep it exciting! Two of the three home wins have been decided in the final minute with last Saturdays victory counting on a Brian Walker 34 yard field goal as time expired, and Saturday the team hopes to expand their perfect record against the Memphis Xplorers. At 4-2, Bakersfield is currently tied for first place in the Western Division, neck in neck with the 4-2 Hawaiian Islanders. Both teams are on a 2 game win streak.

Pass Perfect

In English, some have a hard time with the past-perfect tense. Blitz Quarterback Chad Elliott only deals with "Pass-Perfect." Despite the bye-week, which gave other quarterbacks in the league a chance to catch up, Elliott still leads the league in passing yards per game. Through May 8th, Elliott has completed 124 of 184 passes for 1406 yards (third in af2) and 28 touchdowns. Elliott currently averages 281.2 yards/game – last season he finished with 210.3 avg/game.

Reynolds Wrap'n ‘Em In

Rennard Reynolds is new to the af2, but after his performance substituting for an injured OS Steve Wofford, it hardly seems fair to call him a "rookie." During the May 1st contest between the Arkansas Twisters and the Bakersfield Blitz, Wofford sustained a knee injury shortly into the first quarter. Head Coach Rick Van Horne looked to WR/DB Rennard Reynolds to fill in. And that he did. Rennard hauled in a total of 11 receptions for 176 yards and 4 touchdowns, allowing for the win and for the rest of the Blitz squad to rest easy – Reynolds has it covered.

Injury Report

Due to his knee injury acquired in the May1st game versus the Twisters, OS Steve Wofford will sit out this week as the Blitz take on the Memphis Xplorers. On the season, Wofford ranks first for the Blitz in kick returns with 22 for 388 yards and 1 touchdown and second in receptions with 28 grabs for 393 yards and 6 touchdowns.
