Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums have announced the signing of pitcher JT King to a 2008 contract.

King most recently pitched with the West Virginia Power, the low-A affiliate in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. In West Virginia, King posted a 8-2 record in 31 games, including 2 starts, to go along with a 4.67 ERA in 61.2 innings with 26 walks and 34 strikeouts while holding opposing batters to a .282 average. King also had 3 saves.

The 6'2" 210-pound right-hander is originally from Grove, Oklahoma, and was selected in the 22nd round of the 2006 MLB draft by the Brewers after completing his sophomore season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College.

"King is a great addition to our pitching staff," said Jason Wuerfel, the Beach Bums' Director of Baseball Operations. "He was used primarily as a reliever in the Brewers system, but he has been a starter his whole life and we have him penciled in to our starting rotation. He is a competitor on the mound and Beach Bums fans will enjoy watching him throw."

King made two spot starts last summer, going 8.1 innings with a 3.24 ERA with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts while holding opponents to a stingy .192 average. King also had great success down the stretch in 2007, giving up only 21 hits in his final 20.1 innings with a 3.13 ERA.
