
Beach Bums Shut out by CornBelters

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
NORMAL, IL - The Traverse City Beach Bums(20-28) stranded runners in score position five times, falling to the Normal Cornbelters(24-25) by a final score of 4-0.
Normal got on the board in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Dudley. With one out in the fifth, Santiago Chirino laced a solo homer over the right field wall to make it 2-0. Nolan Meadows hit an RBI single in the eighth followed by Justin Fletcher driving in a run on a fielder's choice to complete the scoring.
Julio Vivas picked up the complete game shutout for the Cornbelters, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out six. He improves to 4-4 on his second complete game of the year. Brian Bayliss had a solid Beach Bums debut, working six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk while fanning three. He falls to 0-1.
Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums and Normal Cornbelters will play the middle game of this weekend's three game set. Reinaldo Lopez takes the hill for the Beach Bums and Normal countgoes with Charlie Gillies. First pitch is at 7:35pm and the voice of the Beach Bums, Tom Willms, goes on the air at 7:15pm with the Budweiser pre-game show, on 101.9- The Bay.
