TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums are excited to announce the signings of outfielder Reginald "Reggie" Lawson and right-handed pitcher Jeremy Thomas "J.T." Mickelson to contracts for the upcoming 2015 season. The pair were signed out of the California Winter League, Palm Springs CA.
Lawson comes to the Beach Bums following three seasons with the Seattle Mariners organization from 2011 to 2013. In 2013 with Everett (Northwest- A) he batted .232 with seven doubles and 21 runs batted in. His best season came in 2012 with Pulaski (Appalachian - Rookie) when he hit .264 with six home runs and 14 runs batted in. The 23-year old native of San Diego, CA attended Grossmont Junior College before signing as a free agent with Seattle in the summer of 2011.
Mickelson, a native of Los Alamitos, CA, joins the Beach Bums after pitching collegiately at both Long Beach City College and Biola University. The 25 year old appeared in 23 games for Biola University from 2012 to 2013 registering a 1-4 record with five saves and 3.52 earned run average. From 2010-2011 with Long Beach City College he struck out 19 batters in 15 career innings on the mound.
The 10th season of Beach Bums' baseball in the Frontier League begins May 15 at Evansville.
The Wuerfel Park offices are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The Beach Bums will play 51 games at Wuerfel Park in 2015 starting with the home opener and a FANtastic Fireworks Friday on May 22 at 7:05 PM. Season ticket packages are now available!
