Frontier Greys Announce 2015 Field Manager

January 26, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Frontier Greys News Release

Following the departure of Kyle Haines, who took a position with the San Francisco Giants organization last week, the Frontier Greys have announced the hiring of Vinny Ganz as their new manager.

Ganz, a 2010 graduate of Keene State University, joins the Greys following two seasons as the hitting coach for the Normal CornBelters, who led the Frontier League in hitting in 2014.

Prior to his time with Normal, Ganz spent time with the London Rippers and Road Warriors, serving as an interim manager and hitting coach for the Road Warriors in 2012. In his brief Frontier League managerial career to this point, Ganz holds a 2-4 record.

Ganz has extensive experience in the amateur ranks as well. He served as an assistant on the staff at Post University from 2010 to 2012, helping with a team that ranked near the top of Division II schools in several categories.

"I am very thankful for the opportunity to manage the Frontier Greys," Ganz said on Sunday, January 25, "I am excited and eager to start the process of putting together my roster. I would like to thank the Normal CornBelters organization and manager Brooks Carey for having me serve as the hitting coach over these last 2 seasons. I truly appreciate all of the support I am receiving and I'm excited to get the 2015 season started."

"We are excited to have Vinny leading the Greys in 2015. When the manager position came open, one of our objectives was to reward somebody who had been working in the Frontier League with this opportunity. Vinny was a big help when the Road Warriors club was first formed during the 2012 season and has had good success the past two seasons with the CornBelters. He has a tremendous work ethic and comes highly recommended by both players and coaches," said Steve Tahsler, Deputy Commissioner of the Frontier League.

In the offseason Ganz runs a youth baseball program, Beach Dawg baseball based out of Bradenton, Florida. His partners with Beach Dawg include former Major Leaguers Scott Sauerbeck and Scott Eyre.

The 2014 Greys finished the season 29-66. For the second straight season, the 2015 Greys will be based out of Highland, Illinois. Players will report to Highland on April 29 and will work out in the city for two weeks beginning on April 30 before their season starts at Windy City on May 15.
