Frontier Greys News Release
Sauget, IL - The Frontier Greys professional baseball team completed their 2014 coaching staff, with field manager Kyle Haines announcing that former Frontier League players Garrett Bauer (pitching coach) and Jeremiah Knackstedt (bench coach) would be joining him in the dugout this summer.
Garrett Bauer spent the 2006-08 seasons pitching for the Rockford RiverHawks, being selected as an All-Star each year. Garrett was a 27th round draft pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2004 out of Missouri Baptist University. He spent two seasons in their organization, playing for the Missoula Osprey of the Pioneer League and the Yakima Bears of the Northwest League. Garrett posted a career record of 24-18 and a 3.59 ERA. He currently serves as the pitching coach for St. Louis Community College along with serving as a Lead Instructor at Balls-n-Strikes Youth Softball & Baseball Facility in Brentwood, Missouri.
Jeremiah Knackstedt is a graduate of Greenville (Illinois) College where he spent the 2003-06 seasons as a catcher for the Panthers. He helped lead Greenville to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title during his senior season. Jeremiah spent 2007 with the River City Rascals. A graduate of Highland High School, Jeremiah is the owner of Back 2 Back Baseball and Softball Training in Highland.
"I am excited to have both Garrett and Jeremiah on the staff, they both have great knowledge and passion for the game and experience in the Frontier League," said Greys' field manager Kyle Haines. "They will both be very valuable to the Greys this season."
The Frontier Greys are entering their second season as members of the 14-team Frontier League. The Greys are a travel club, playing games in each of the other 13 Frontier League ballparks. The Greys will be based out of Highland, Illinois, for the 2014 season. They open the 2014 regular season at the Windy City ThunderBolts on Friday, May 16.
The Greys are looking for host families to house the players on the 70 nights that they will be in Highland throughout the summer. For more information, please contact Susan Ley at sjl9353@gmail.com.
