Washington Mystics News Release

Washington, D.C. –The Washington Mystics will host the WNBA's initiative "Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself" as well as "Dads and Daughters Day," on Saturday, June 18th at 6:00 p.m. when the team face-off against the Indiana Fever.

"Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself" is a program designed by the WNBA to positively influence young people and women to become physically active and to raise awareness about how being fit improves health, self image and overall well being. The WNBA'S "Be Smart-Be Fit-Be Yourself" is designed to educate teens and women about the risks and dangers of obesity and inactivity and to answer questions about healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices.

Prior to the start of the game, there will be a clinic held on the practice court. Mystics player Alana Beard and Wizards head coach Eddie Jordan will be on hand to talk about the importance of physical activities. A nutritionist will also give a presentation on healthy eating.

"The Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself program is a great way to encourage kids as well as adults to lead a healthy life," said Alana Beard. "As a professional athlete I understand that the healthy way of living is imperative to your success."

To get in the spirit of Fathers Day, the Mystics will also host "Dads and Daughters Day" on June 18th. This is a way to celebrate the bond between dads and their daughters by inviting them to experience female athleticism at its best. Tickets are $21.00 for an adult ticket and $5.00 for any accompanying child under 15 years old.

Individual tickets for Saturday's game as well as the entire season are currently on sale and can be purchased by visiting MCI Center's Box Office, calling TicketMaster Phone Charge at (202)397-SEAT or by visiting the Mystics web site at www.washingtonmystics.com.
