The Shock shot 54.8% (23-42) from the field as they defeated the Sting 69-55 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Detroit built an early 23-7 lead on the Sting before Charlotte cut the lead to four at halftime. A 16-6 run by Detroit with 11:40 remaining in the game helped the Shock capture the victory. Cheryl Ford and Elaine Powell both scored 12 points to lead Detroit. Sheri Sam and Teana Miller, who made her first start of the season, both scored eight to lead Charlotte.

Seattle's Janell Burse connected on a lay-up with .1 second left, giving the Storm a 62-60 win over the Sting. Down by four with 30.0 seconds left, the Sting's Allison Feaster connected on a three-point jumper and Seattle's Tanisha Wright made only 1-of-2 free throws before a lay-up by Sheri Sam tied the game at 60. Sam finished with 14 points to lead the Sting while Tangela Smith added 12. Lauren Jackson recorded 17 points, 14 rebounds and four assists to lead Seattle.
STING NEWS AND NOTES
STING HOST GUYS NIGHT OUT
As part of the WNBA's "Dads and Daughters Week," the Sting will host Guys Night Out on Thursday, June 16 as they take on the Indiana Fever at 7 p.m. Guys can purchase a ticket to the game for just $5. Half-price beer specials will be available and the first 2,500 fans will receive a Sting 6-pack cooler courtesy of Dr. Jerry Barron.
STING MAKE ROSTER MOVES
The Sting activated forward/center Janel McCarville on Sunday, June 12 and placed guard Jia Perkins on the injured list with tendinitis in both knees. In her return to the line-up, McCarville recorded a team-high six rebounds in 18 minutes vs. Seattle on Sunday.
TAKING CARE OF THE BALL
Sting guard Dawn Staley currently leads the WNBA in assist to turnover ratio at 3.58 assists per turnover. On the season, she has recorded 43 assists and only 12 turnovers. Staley led the league in assist to turnover ratio in 2004 as well, recording a 2.31 mark.

June 14: Sting Visit Presbyterian Hospital
Sting players Kelly Mazzante and Jessica Moore will visit children at Presbyterian Hospital at 3:30 p.m. Media should meet in the main hospital lobby and be escorted to Hemby Children's Hospital.
June 20: Sting Reading Time-out
Tangela Smith, Janel McCarville and B.B. Sting will visit University Library at 3:30 p.m. to participate in a Read To Achieve Reading Time-out.
June 25: Sting Host Superwoman Exhibit
A special photo exhibit featuring some of the top women in sports will be displayed at the Charlotte Coliseum. The photo exhibit is courtesy of the Women's Sports Foundation, Head & Shoulders and Wachovia. A reception featuring WNBA President Donna Orender as the keynote speaker will be held at 4:30 p.m.
THE WEEK AHEAD
Thursday, June 16- vs. Indiana

The Sting continue their five-game homestand on Thursday as they host the Indiana Fever. This will be the second meeting between the Fever and the Sting this season. In the first meeting on May 22, the Fever handed the Sting a 68-58 loss at Conseco Fieldhouse. Deanna Jackson scored 12 points off the bench to lead the Fever while Sheri Sam scored 13 points to pace Charlotte. The Fever are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 5-3 record. All-Star Tamika Catchings leads the Fever in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds. Guard Kelly Miller (11.8 ppg) and rookie Tan White (10.9 ppg) also average double figures for the Fever.

The top two picks in the 2005 WNBA Draft will be on the court when the Sting face the Fever on Thursday. The Sting selected Janel McCarville from the University of Minnesota with the top pick while Indiana selected Tan White from Mississippi State with the second overall pick.
LEWIS FINDING HER STRIDE
After averaging 2.2 points through the first five contests, Sting guard Tynesha Lewis has averaged 9.3 points in the last three games. In her first start this season, Lewis recorded 10 points, four rebounds and two assists on Sunday vs. Seattle.
RANKING AMONG THE BEST
Sting guard Dawn Staley is currently ranked third in the WNBA in three-point field goal percentage (.615) and fourth in assists (5.4 apg). Guard Kelly Mazzante is ranked sixth in the league in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 50.0% from behind the arc and Sheri Sam is 20th in the same category at 42.1%.

this season. The next C-SET broadcast will take
place on June 30 as the Sting travel to Washington.
