BC Football Hall of Fame Defers Next Induction Class to 2021

November 24, 2020 - Canadian Football League (CFL) - B.C. Lions News Release

SURREY, B.C. - The BC Football Hall of Fame announced today that due to the COVD-19 pandemic, it will defer this year's induction class to 2021.

"The football community in B.C. is a family and, while we considered potential options to hold a downscaled or virtual event, we felt the only way we could appropriately honour our next class would be to do it together with our entire football family," said Tom Malone, CEO of the BC Football Hall of Fame.

"We want to thank our tremendous supporters, sponsors, and media partners for their understanding. We can't wait to gather again with everybody and, in particular, with our amazing partners in the BC Lions and the CFL. Without them, our annual induction event would not be possible.

The BC Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is an annual Football and Family Celebration, hosted by the BC Lions with a halftime ceremony to introduce the new inductees. Each year, the Hall honours our newest group of inductees from B.C.'s storied football history, from players to builders and pioneers.

The dream and vision of legendary late Lions President and CEO Bob Ackles, its purpose is to showcase and honour the great history of football in British Columbia, recognizing the outstanding individuals and teams that have comprised its history.

Added Malone: "In 2019, we celebrated our Decade of Distinction and welcomed our very first female team inductees in the 1986-1991 Vancouver Mardi Gras Women's Touch Football Team.

Next year, we will make even more history and kick off the start of another incredible decade with our entire family. Continue to follow us on our website and on social media as we get closer to revealing who will be the next Geroy Simon, Lui Passaglia or Kato Kasuya to become enshrined in our Hall."
