Mobile, Ala. - Kory Casto hit a three-run home run in the first inning before Wade Miley allowed one unearned run over eight frames leading the Mobile BayBears (48-42, 12-10) to a 6-1 win over the Jacksonville Suns (51-41, 11-11) in front of 5,041 Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Miley (2-1) allowed the first inning run and scattered seven hits over an eight inning effort in the winning decision. Jeff Allison (5-6) was tagged with a loss in his second straight outing, giving up five runs and eight hits over four innings of work.
Jacksonville opened the scoring in the first inning. With one out, Ozzie Martinez reached second on an error by third baseman Kory Casto. After a Brandon Tripp singled moved him to third, Martinez scored on a Vinny Rottino fielder's choice for a 1-0 Suns lead.
Mobile answered in the bottom of the first inning against Allison. Evan Frey and Collin Cowgill singled and scored on a Kory Casto home run over the right-centerfield fence, opening a 3-1 BayBears lead. Later in the inning Jake Elmore grounded out to bring in Bryan Byrne for a 4-1 lead.
The BayBears struck again in the fourth inning. Ollie Linton led off with a bunt single, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Frey sacrifice fly for a 5-1 Mobile lead.
Mobile added a final run in the eighth inning as Suns reliever Garrett Parcell walked Collin Cowgill with the bases loaded to force home the sixth Mobile run for a 6-1 final.
